Workshop Content

At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, most Event Holders found that the scope and assumptions of their risk management and emergency / critical incident planning wasn't effective at dealing with the situation - particularly when federal and state governments began implementing health stipulations, mandating lockdowns, movement restrictions…etc. The pandemic has certainly reset the expectations of event planning and delivery.

The objective of this workshop is to revisit our understanding of risk management principles, framework and process in an event context and examine the lessons identified from the on-going pandemic with a view to outlining the steps that Event Holders could take to realign their events to reflect these new realities.

  • What is risk and risk management in an event planning and delivery context?
  • Applying the Risk Management Process, Framework and Principles in that context
  • Understanding the pandemic stages as defined by the World Health Organisation and the Australian Government
  • Key lessons identified in the event planning and delivery area in the context of the on-going pandemic
  • Key elements to manage pre-event preparation, response and recovery - including health and safety, financials, event workforce management, the supply chain, communications, education/awareness
  • Alignment of those elements with the event risk assessment and plan
  • Scenario planning and exercising
  • Keeping all the plans current and aligned

Mark Humphreys MSc, CPRM, CIP, CMIOSH, MBCI, GAICD - Riskwest Management Consultants

Mark Humphreys has over 20 years of experience encompassing logic mapping, strategic, operational and project risk, liability and insurable risk with blue chip companies in the UK and across the Australian private and public sectors. He holds two 'Master of Science' degrees; one in 'Insurance & Risk Management' and one in 'Civil Emergency Management', majoring in risk and business continuity management.
