This session of Industry Talk will be hosted by Vic/Tas Region Council member Andrea Szymanski.
Andrea will present on Knox City Council’s trial of a Place Centric Model in the effective collaboration, design and delivery of upgrades to sport and recreation facilities across an entire reserve.
Knox City Council is committed to delivering public open space outcomes of exceptional quality for the community. As part of a business and operational improvement initiative in the delivery of sport, recreation and open space projects, a Place Centric Model was trialled.
The Place Centric methodology seeks to ensure a unified approach in the design, communication and delivery of multiple capital works projects within the one parkland precinct. The model championed internal collaboration, skills and knowledge sharing, accountability and importantly aims to minimise disruptions for clubs whilst improving the overall quality of the reserve for the local community and public use.
The Place Centric model trial has uncovered a number of positive benefits as well as a few challenges and learnings to consider in future delivery opportunities.
