Keynote Day 1
Suellen Fitzgerald, Chief Executive,
Greater Sydney Parklands

'A case study for the importance of having a long-term vision and a commitment to ongoing resourcing'

Suellen is the inaugural Chief Executive of Greater Sydney Parklands. The new agency was established in July 2020 and is the amalgamation of three independent trusts - Centennial Park and Moore Park, Parramatta Park and Western Sydney Parklands Trust. It will oversee 6,000 hectares of parklands, and will look for ways to better manage, restore and expand Sydney's parks.

Keynote Day 2
Dr Ruth Jeanes, Associate Professor, Monash University

'Why are we investing so much in sports facilities for sports clubs to use when we've got a small percentage of the population playing structured sport and the rest aren't?'

Ruth is a social scientist whose research interests focus on the use of sport and active recreation as a community development resource, particularly to address social exclusion amongst acutely marginalised groups. Methodologically, Ruth seeks to give voice to disempowered individuals and communities within her research.
