The PLA QLD 2022 Conference will be held in the city of Gladstone - located in Central Queensland, about 550 kilometres north of Brisbane.
Bounded by the Coral Sea to the east and with easy access to the Bruce Highway (A1), rail network and an award-winning airport, Gladstone is a rapidly growing hotspot, home to 60,000 people. It boasts national parks, state forests, beaches, islands and is the doorway to Heron Island and the Great Barrier Reef.
Gladstone is a prosperous region built on major industry, including two of the world's largest alumina refineries, an aluminium smelter, power station, cement and chemical manufacturers and Queensland's largest multi-commodity port.
Our PLA QLD 2022 Conference - themed "Take Another Look" - aims to showcase the positive and proactive ways that local governments, industry specialists, sporting organisations and consultants are tackling and responding to contemporary challenges (such as technology disruptors, COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, population, and demographic change) with limited and often, highly contested resources and sometimes, in unchartered circumstances.
