Around our PLAce

Lessons from a long lockdown

Date: Thursday 19 August
Time: 2.00pm (AEST)
Cost: Free

As many parts of the country are plunged into reoccurring lock-downs, Victoria still holds the record for the longest lock-down so far.

PLA NSW/ACT and PLA VIC/TAS are working together with the support of the City of Melbourne and City of Glen Eira to share their lock down experiences and hopefully provide some insight and guidance.

Some topics to be explored will include:
  • Opening / closing recreation and aquatic centres and staff redeployment. The City of Melbourne was determined to retain all leisure centre staff and redeploy them into other Council service areas - how did this work for the organisation?
  • Managing external service provision contracts - moving from guaranteed income contract to suspended service and ongoing service delivery through existing contract agreements
  • Managing and supporting community sporting clubs
  • Leadership in a pandemic
