Fire Ants are rapidly becoming a major issue for greenspace managers and landscape contractors in Queensland. Having a clear understanding of what to look-out for and when detected, how to treat for them, is essential to ensure the response is undertaken in the most effective, environmentally responsible, and economical manner.
In this presentation, Syngenta's Pest Management expert, Peter Ambrose-Pearce will share his knowledge and experience on: how and why Fire Ants have become a pest in Queensland; land managers' responsibilities for controlling Fire Ants; the tell-tale signs of Fire Ant activity in public open space; and some practical solutions available for their management.
Hosted by PLA QLD Regional Councillor Sean Winterflood, Peter's presentation will be followed by 20 minutes for Q&A, where we will invite questions from our participants about the opportunities, challenges, and potential solutions for managing Fire Ants in public greenspace areas.
