Around our PLAce: What does the community want? Learnings from the 2021 liveabilty survey

Between March and June 2021 Place Score ran the 2021 Australian Liveability Census, the largest social research project in the country with over 40 councils participating and over 30,000 new records collected.

11,600+ of those records were gathered from community members in NSW and the ACT, sharing what was most important to them in terms of neighbourhood liveability and rating how their current neighbourhoods are performing for them. Thousands of ideas for improving local neighbourhoods were collected ranging from improving local walkability to better local amenity in terms of open spaces.

Topics:
  • What are the common trends across Australia? How do NSW and the ACT compare? Is there a gap between our cities and regions?
  • What is currently the most valued by community members? How are we meeting their needs?
  • Who is currently being let down by our public spaces? How can we make our neighbourhoods more liveable for them?
  • The impact of Covid on community values and our public spaces.
