Our online network series is a chance for anyone working in the parks, leisure and recreation industry to come together to discuss things that are impacting your everyday work day and future work plans.
This session will look at how organisations are planning and implementing the reopening of skate parks, playgrounds and outdoor fitness areas.
We will hear from Simon James,Manager Parks, Ryde City Council and Nick Buskens, National Programs and Events Manager, YMCA Action Sports.
Simon has over 20 years experience as a Sport Administrator, working in State and Local Government organisations and also including a stint in the University Sector. Working for the Sydney Olympic Organising Committee and at the Australian Masters Games, Simon has experience in managing the use of recreation facilities for all levels of sport. Simon has been a committee member in a number of community sporting organisations and has developed a strong understanding of the competing demands and pressures across the industry in relation to the use of sports facilities. His experience in developing and managing community facilities, and a knowledge of the objectives of policy makers gives him a unique understanding of the challenges and opportunities there are for organisations to align their agenda's and achieve better outcomes.
Nick is a senior leader within YMCA movement, he has over 20 years' experience in the Sport and Recreation and Community Development Sectors. Nick has been skateboarding for over 26 years and is the architect behind the Australian Skate Park and Skateboarding leagues. As a passionate skateboarder Nick has been involved in setting up and running Skateboarding associations in Australia and Europe. he has also worked with YMCA's in Australia, USA and Hong Kong to deliver competitions, training camps for Action sports athletes and young people.
