Our online network series is a chance for anyone working in the parks, leisure and recreation industry to come together to discuss things that are impacting your everyday work day and future work plans.
We are excited to announce our guest speaker for the next Around our PLAce network will be Alex O'Mara, Deputy Secretary of Place, Design and Public Spaces at the NSW Department of Planning and Environment.
Alex is an experienced senior executive who has worked across a range of sectors, including the planning, industry, infrastructure, building, water, environment, creative and cultural sectors. Alex has led the delivery of multi-dimensional projects and programs, driving significant policy, reform and infrastructure projects and leading complex stakeholder engagement.
The DPIE is rolling out a state-wide pilot program, "Streets as Shared Spaces", to promote temporary activation projects in local government areas. The program aims to increase the amount of public space and improve local streets and paths as shared spaces for people and transport.
Alex will be talking about the Streets as Public Spaces grants and also the increased demand and implications for public open space during/post COVID-19.
Information about the new program can be found here, https://www.dpie.nsw.gov.au/premiers-priorities/great-public-spaces/streets/grants-for-councils
A series of webinars have also been developed by the DPIE for additional information.
All you need to do is register (so we can get an idea of numbers) and we will send the link to you.
