ProjectPARK - understanding park features that optimise park visitation, park-based physical activity and social interaction among children, teens and older adults (2017-2020).

ProjectPARK aims to understand what park features are important to encourage people to visit parks more often, and to be more active and social in parks. It included approximately 100 walk-along interviews in parks across Melbourne, two surveys with nearly two thousand participants from the general public and 23 interviews with key stakeholders in park design, planning and management to provide you with actionable insights to inform the future design of community parks.

To ensure the results are disseminated in a format that is appropriate and useful to key stakeholders such as park planners and designers, the results have been presented as infographics and in a summary report.

See ProjectPARK: A video is also currently being prepared.

The study was led by Associate Professor Jenny Veitch, Alfred Deakin Professor Anna Timperio, and Alfred Deakin Professor Kylie Ball within the Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition (IPAN), a research institute within the School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences at Deakin University. The project was funded by the Australian Research Council (ARC).
