Around our PLAce Creating a place for women in the parks and recreation industry. PRESENTATION
WOW WOW WOW...if you missed this fantastic panel discussion you can watch it here
What an inspiring conversation we had this morning. A huge thank you to all our panel, Rachel Thorpe, Kristin Davies, Claire Beattie and Emma Lowe; and our host, Heather Nesbitt.
Just some of the take away messages/thoughts from today:
Recognise the barriers
Policy should be done with people not to them
We have to walk together to create good policy
Co-design
Diversity of thought
Treating everyone equally doesn't mean equity
Equity doesn't mean justice
We are the change
Legacy leadership
Empower you self
Be authentic
Be a champion of change
Provide support at all levels
These are just a small snapshot of the conversation. Parks and Leisure Australia is committed to being a champion of change. Part of this is the establishment of the Women in Parks and Recreation Network, which will be launched at the National Conference in November.
If you are interested to find out more about the network and would like to be involved please send you details to Ursula at plansw@parksleisure.com.au
