Lets's Get Gender on the Agenda

Let's get gender on the agenda

Today Parks and Leisure Australia will launch its draft gender equity charter. Presented at PLA2019, in Perth [27-30 Oct], representatives from PLA Advisory invite members to join a discussion on how as an organisation we can better improve the balance of our membership. Currently although 50% of our national board members are woman and 60% of Regional Presidents are woman, 63% of members are men. Gender equity will help our organisation grow in influence and in turn create more inclusive communities. It will also …

  • Improve productivity and growth
  • Increase organisational performance
  • Enhance our ability to attract and retain talent
  • Enhance our organisation's reputation

What actions do we need to take:

  • 50% of PLA Boards and sub committees position to be women by 2022
  • 45% of PLA members to be women by 2024
  • 45% women attending PLA conferences / training sessions by 2024
  • 50% of speakers to be women at National and State Conferences by 2020
  • 50% of authors published in each Australian Parks and Leisure Journal edition to be women
  • PLA to collect data and report on gender participation.
