MEDIA RELEASE: CHRISTIE WINS GOOD DESIGN AWARD WITH GAME CHANGING SMART BARBECUE AND ASSET MANAGEMENT PLATFORM

Christie invented the now-iconic Australian public barbecue more than 50 years ago and have never stopped refining their product offering. Last night their latest innovation - Christie's Smart Barbecue CC2-i Cooktop with GoACCESS Platform - received an Australian Good Design Award in the Digital Design category, in recognition of outstanding design and innovation.

The annual Good Design Awards celebrate the best new products and services on the Australian market, and reward emerging areas of design strategy, social impact and design entrepreneurship. This year, the awards attracted a record number of close to 700 submissions. The awards Jury evaluated each entry according to a strict set of criteria which covers 'good design', 'design innovation', and 'design impact'. Good Design CEO Dr. Brandon Gien said, "Australia's Good Design Award is more than a symbol of design excellence, it represents the hard work and dedication towards an innovative outcome that will ultimately improve our quality of life. These projects showcase the brilliance of design and the potential it has to improve our world".

The awards jury praised Christie for their CC2-i Cooktop and GoACCESS Platform, commenting: "This is functionally rich design: the snapshot view of BBQs is really strong and the right information is there to surface what needs attention. The report dashboard showing usage, fault history and type as well as electricity usage is really insightful. The sectioning and dimension-categorisation is clear and allows options for consumer decision making - for example where should new public barbecues be installed, and when they should be replaced, or need servicing and maintenance. This is a great entry and concept with a great set of features."

Some of the greatest challenges posed to public barbecue facility managers are solved by Christie's Smart barbecue and platform data insights and real-time alerts. This includes knowing when a barbecue has been used, when it needs to be cleaned, when it needs servicing, and when it has broken down.

Alex Christie, Christie's Managing Director said: "Our team is enormously proud that our Smart barbecue innovation has been recognised among so many outstanding projects from Australia's leading providers. We started out on this Smart City journey to offer our clients the most comprehensive array of tangible benefits that our latest generation barbecue cooktop can provide. We partnered with industry leader Smartsensor Technologies to produce a fully integrated and customisable product that offers our clients complete visibility and robust analytics, for proactive public barbecue asset management."
