Parks and Leisure Australia (PLA) is the leading industry association for professionals in the sector, serving the industry for over 90 years.

PLA is governed by a national board comprising of a representative for each of our five regions and co-opted members who provide specific professional skills.  The national board contract the national office operations to a contractor, where this position is located. Some intra and interstate travel may be required as part of the role.

The Finance Officer is responsible to the Chief Executive Officer of Parks and Leisure Australia to deliver national financial management and to oversee all financial operations of the organisation including:

  • Accounts payable and receivable functions.
  • Ability to use multiple systems and import data (Calxa Experience desirable).
  • Preparation of board reports including monthly profit and loss reporting, quarterly financial analysis and end of financial year reporting. 
  • BAS preparation.
  • Oversee the budget planning process including developing, monitoring and reviewing the national office budget.
  • Liaise with the external accountant and auditors to prepare end of financial year reports and oversee the financial audit.
  • Monitoring cash flow and preparing forecast reports.
  • Bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Development and review of financial policies and procedures.
  • Assisting the CEO to manage contractors. 
  • Support regions and national office with all financial matters.

The position is a part-time position for between 20-30 hours per week and offers flexible working hours and arrangements with a pro-rata package of $71,175 inclusive of super.

 

Experience (criteria)

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role. 
  • A general knowledge of finance and accounting concepts and processes.
  • MYOB and Microsoft Excel experience essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with initiative.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively in a small team environment.
  • Strong communication skills.
