Townsville City Council are focussed on ‘placemaking’ across the community in order to inspire people and to collectively reimagine and reinvent public spaces. Strengthening the connection between people and the places they share; Council have a collaborative process in place to shape the public realm in order to maximize shared value. More than just promoting better urban design, they are facilitating creative patterns of use, paying particular attention to the physical, cultural, and social identities that define places across the city and support their ongoing evolution.

The Role

Assisting Council to re-imagine everyday spaces and embark on a journey of creating meaningful places that entice and attract people to visit will be your focus. A full audit of the 400 Parks and 182 open spaces has been completed. Your role will be about how to maintain or renew these.

Keeping the customer at the heart of all activities, you will:

  • Ensure that the Infrastructure, Planning and Assets and Fleet Section delivers on the co-design of services with the community, a whole of Council approach to integrating service delivery and an innovative view of Council’s long-term opportunities.
  • Develop a 10-year capital renewal and upgrade plan for various infrastructure asset types such as parks, road reserves etc

About You

Tertiary qualified, you have roughly 2-5 years’ previous experience and ideally have worked in Local Government as a Senior Asset Officer, Asset Engineer, Maintenance Engineer or related roles.

With advanced asset management skills including asset renewal and maintenance strategies, concepts, theories, techniques and principles you have worked across related infrastructure asset types.  In addition, you will have extensive knowledge of and experience in performing analysis in various IT systems.

You will join a team that is led by someone who is constantly striving for innovation, better ways of thinking and in applying the resources of Council to better serve the community.
