The Opportunity

This role is an exciting opportunity for a proven leader to manage our Community and Recreation team to ensure the efficient and effective operation and management of Council’s Aquatics and Community and Recreation facilities, and Council’s Community Planning and Support services to meet our community needs and legislative responsibilities.

Reporting to the Group Manager for Culture, Community and Recreation, this position also plays a key role in facilitating input into the identification of and planning for the community’s future needs in community and recreation facilities.

The incumbent will be required to build strong relationships across all areas of Council, including our Planning and Environment, and Infrastructure and Works teams. You will also develop the department’s annual budget and ensure effective resource utilization within budgetary parameters.

To be successful in this role, you will possess degree qualifications in Business, Social Science or a related discipline, and/or a combination of contemporary industry experience coupled with relevant education and training.

An outstanding collaborator with contemporary knowledge and experience in Community and Recreation services, you will have a proven ability to analyse and interpret information and data, coordinate and prepare business reports, proposals and presentations, and prepare and manage budgets to meet operational and financial targets.

Finally, you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills that complement your leadership experience in supporting a team to reach organisational objectives and effectively influence outcomes with external and internal stakeholders.

This is a permanent full-time role with a competitive salary package on offer (including a leaseback vehicle), which will be negotiated at time of offer with the successful candidate. Managers are entitled to take special paid leave during the period of Council’s annual shutdown over the Christmas period (typically 3-4 days), and an additional five days special paid leave each year for professional development.

Council also offers its staff a range of other benefits, including access to Fitness Passport, health and wellbeing programs, and flexible work arrangements.

If after reading the role charter you have any questions, contact Judy Jaeger, Group Manager, Culture, Community and Recreation on 02 4939 1040.
