With the National Virtual Conference and Awards of Excellence behind us, we are already planning for next year's National Conference in Melbourne. We're looking forward to being able to see you again in person so, make sure you save the date 16-19 October 2022.

As this will be the final newsletter for the year, we hope you take the time to celebrate your successes and endless hard work, making our industry proud as we continue to serve our communities.

Looking ahead to 2022, there will be a lot going on including Parks Week 2022, region conferences and, we will shortly be opening the next round for nominations for the 2022 Awards of Excellence.

PLA2021 NATIONAL VIRTUAL CONFERENCE WRAP

Well, that's a wrap for another year! We welcomed 300 professionals from across Australia and overseas who attended the 2021 Parks and Leisure Australia National Virtual Conference, The Park Bench, Reconnecting Communities 23-24 November 2021. NATIONAL AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE 2021 WINNERS

Winners for the prestigious PLA National Awards of Excellence were announced at PLA National Awards of Excellence Virtual Gala event on Friday 26 November.

You can see the full rundown of winners here.

GREEN FLAG AWARD WINNERS 2021

We were delighted to announce the 2021 Australian Green Flag Award Winners at the  PLA National Awards of Excellence Virtual Gala event on Friday 26 November.

Seven winners from Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia were announced. View the winners here

Full Registration Competition for PLA2022

The winner of the challenge to visit a minimum of five virtual exhibitor booths during the National Virtual Conference was Matt Gordon from Cessnock City Council. Matt has won a full conference registration for next year.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT - CPLP QUALIFICATION

You can now apply online for the Certified Parks and Leisure Professional program, simply complete the form and your application will be assessed by our friendly team.

Why sign-up for the program? The Certified Parks and Leisure Professional (CPLP) qualification is the only Australian national benchmark for industry professionals.

To be eligible for the CPLP program you must be a member of PLA.

PARKS WEEK 5-13 MARCH 2022

We are proud to announce entries for Parks Week 2022 is now open! Park Week is a time to celebrate the vital role parks play in our communities and will focus on the how spending time in our parks and open spaces positively influences our wellbeing

We are inviting entries for events which can range from a variety of programs, event and digital experiences or even special themed days during the week to highlight the different ways everyone can enjoy our parks and open spaces.

PROVIDING ACCESS TO FITNESS AND RECREATION

A world-class recreation and aquatic facility planned for south Perth will bring a community closer to health and wellbeing. For over 30 years, the City of South Perth community has raised concerns about the lack of local access to aquatic and recreation facilities. With no public pool and existing indoor sport facilities no longer fit for purpose, the City of South Perth is proposing a world-class health, wellness, fitness, recreation and education hub located at Collier Park Golf Course in Como.
