JANUARY E-News

Dear

As a body with members that work directly in park and open space planning and management, our thoughts go out to the many communities across Australia that have been severely affected by the bushfire emergency that continues to sweep our nation.

At a time when we'd usually be welcoming you back from a well-earned break, this is very obviously not a time to debate the views on climate change, nor point the finger at politicians or land managers, but to collectively rally in support of the many victims whose lives and livelihoods have been destroyed by the fires, as well as the devasting loss to our native flora and fauna.

If you are living in an area that has been impacted, I hope that you and your loved ones are safe during this very difficult time. I know the day-to-day realities of what you're facing are extremely tough and we hope you are getting the support you need. PLA will work with its members, partners and all levels of government to address the critical issue of fire and land management in our parks and open spaces in a bid to ensure fires of this magnitude never occur again.

I wish you all the very best for 2020.

Sincerely , Mark Band, CEO
