PLA QLD October update

Hello PLA QLD community,

What a whirlwind the past couple of months have been, from the delivery of the PLA 2020 Virtual Conference this week, to our involvement in the Design Series on the Sunshine Coast, to finally welcoming many new stakeholders to PLA QLD in recent months.

We know we have been quieter of late but behind the scenes we have been busy developing our renewed 2021 - 2023 Strategic Plan, with the amazing support of the Good Design Australia COVID19 Design Taskforce. This month we commenced our planning for the 2021 QLD State Conference, providing us the opportunity to not only connect, but also showcase our industry leadership, innovation, advocacy and provide professional development opportunities across our diverse industry. Please stay tuned on our social media channels where we will share news and announcements first.

At a organisational level we recently welcomed Nicholas Matthews from SPORTENG to our regional Council, and say a sincerer thank you to Anand Pillay who stepped down after providing PLA with years of amazing service and leadership, both in Queensland and nationally. Welcome on board Nicholas and again a sincere thank you and loads of gratitude to Anand.

Finally I also would like to wish all of our Queensland finalists the very best for this weeks National Awards of Excellence. I speak for many in that we are incredibly proud of the amazing projects and initiatives showcased from across Queensland this year and love seeing our colleagues recognition on the national stage.

We hope everyone is well and I look forward to sharing updates on our 2021 events program, professional development opportunities and industry partnerships with you all soon.

All the best,

Adam Cheyne
