Dear
Firstly I would like to start by hoping everyone is keeping well, as our communities and industry continue to adapt to these incredibly challenging times. From our end the team at PLAQ have been busy supporting the national team and a number of our partners and members during these unique times of social isolation and remote working, but we are excited to kick off our Queensland region monthly newsletter again.
Each day it is amazing to witness the resilience our industry has shown in the wake of this global pandemic and how our industry is quickly pivoting to adapt the best we can. We are acutely aware of how significantly COVID-19 has impacted the parks, leisure and sporting facilities, and also this flow on affect this is having to our members and stakeholders. I could not have imagined that 2020 would see so many of our favourite parks, leisure, community and sporting facilities being off limits, but in saying that, it is amazing to see so many people enjoying creating leisure opportunities in their own unique ways.
You may have also seen in the national update recently that the National Board made a series of decisions to help protect the future of PLA whilst at the same time meeting the needs of our members. Difficult decisions were made in terms of postponing upcoming conferences, events and seminars, and in Queensland we are currently working on a suite of offerings and engaging with our industry and government partners to support the recovery of our industry and our members across 2020/21.
Finally as an industry we are in this for the long term, and are keen to collaborate with you all further, as we start planning for recovery and getting our communities active and healthy when isolation restrictions are relaxed in the future. In the meantime we would love to see how you are keeping active in isolation, so feel free to tag PLA QLD in any posts you put online and hashtag #plaq.
Stay safe and well,
Adam and the PLA QLD team
