Welcome to 2020: PLA QLD Update

We welcome our members and subscribers to our first update of 2020. Firstly we would like to acknowledge the devastating fires our friends and partners are experiencing across a number of our regions. The human, environmental and social impact of these fires are affecting many people within the Parks and Leisure network, and we hope everyone directly or indirectly affected are safe, and we get much needed rain soon.

Secondly there are many ways you can support those impacted.  Business Insider have collated some create links here and many of you would be aware of the amazing crowdfunding by Celeste Barber.  One great way to ensure you make an immediate impact is to contact your local rural fire station and they can advise what is urgently needed to support volunteers and communities on the ground.  We sincerely hope everyone stays safe be it your families, friends or colleagues. Also the impact on our wildlife and natural environments is devestating and with over 500million animals impacted as well as a range of parks, playspaces and open space networks, there is always other ways you can use your professional skills and connect to support adversely impacted communities.
