Functional Facilities conference

PLA WA is hosting a one day conference on 29th March 2012 at the Rendezvous Hotel in Scarborough, Perth that aims to address major issues faced by facility planners, designers and managers
The one day event will examine the key concepts of function, design, management, maintenance and reactivation. How are these elements considered when the idea of building a community centre or facility is first considered?
Why is the centre being built?
Who is consulted at each stage and are they the right people?
Are there better ways to serve community needs ?

The conference wil be followed by an optional half dayTechnical Tour taking in community facility developments in and around the City of Cockburn in the southern suburbs of Perth.

PLA WA is hosting a one day conference on 29th March 2012 at the Rendezvous Hotel in Scarborough, Perth that aims to address major issues faced by facility planners, designers and managers.
This conference will attract around 100 key stakeholders and decision makers from local government, developers, architects and landscape designers, as well as facility managers and purchasers of equipment and products necessary for the function of a facility.
KEY THEMES OF THE CONFERENCE WILL BE:
1. Facility planning for the long term.
2. Community hubs and co-location.
3. SPP 3.6: an equitable capital funding model
4. Place activation: eg -the mix of elements that make it work
5. Upgrading or replacing old facilities

PLA WA is hosting a one day conference on 2nd December 2011 at the Rendezvous Hotel in Scarborough, Perth that aims to address major issues faced by facility planners, designers and managers
The one day event will examine the key concepts of function, design, management, maintenance and reactivation. How are these elements considered when the idea of building a community centre or facility is first considered?
Why is the centre being built?
Who is consulted at each stage and are they the right people?
Are there better ways to serve community needs ?

It will consider all aspects of managing a facility from asset management, centre management models, developing a maintenace program, programming events and activities and engaging with the community the facility serves. These questions and more will be addressed by a variety of experts.
