- PLA WA has developed a five year business plan which identifies the prioriteis and key activites. The priorities identified in the 2011-2016 plan were developed following input from a range of key stakeholders who attended a facilitated planning workshop held on 6th December 2010. The participating stakeholders recognised a number of key elements:
- That cooperation and alliances were essential to achieving common goals;
- That objectives needed to be prioritised;
- That actions needed to be limited in line with available resources; and
- That any plan developed needed to be responsive to changing circumstances.
- The Plan developed is a robust and flexible planning document that:
- Recognises the priorities of its membership and the wider community in relation to parks and leisure opportunities and facilities.
- Builds organisational capacity and resource capability to meet the needs of membership and the wider community into the future.
- Recognises changing community need, employs new strategies and responds adaptively to meet those needs; and
- Develops key themes most relevant to the Western Australian context within the national Strategic Framework.The Plan is reviewed on a regular basis and updated appropriately.
The Plan has been developed around four key themes:
- To strengthen influence as an advocate for appropriate open spaces.
- To provide support for improved leisure facility design, management and operational review.
- To articulate / facilitate sustainability elements for parks and gardens.
- To be an organisation of good governance: that conducts its business in a strategically aligned, transparent and accountable manner.
